Dr. Lindsay Spears, DDS
“I’m kind of a dental nerd who enjoys all things dentistry. But what really drives me is a deep love for Jesus and serving people.”
The Beginnings
Growing up in Lenoir, NC, Dr. Spears knew she wanted to serve people through dentistry from the age of 4. She began her journey by completing an undergraduate degree in Dental Hygiene and Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the UNC School of Dentistry.
Forensic Dentistry
Dr. Spears completed a Fellowship in Forensic Dentistry at Lincoln Memorial University College of Dental Medicine and is now board certified in Forensic Odontology. She is currently the only board-certified forensic dentist in the state of North Carolina. In addition, she has completed over 500 hours of continuing education across all aspects of dentistry.
Professional Leadership
She serves as the secretary of the Forensic Odontology Consensus Body of the Academy Standards Boards through the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Dr. Spears is also the current president of the 2nd District of the North Carolina Dental Society and Secretary for the Odontology Section of the Organization of Scientific Area Committees for Forensic Science.
Life at home
She loves Jesus and spending time with her husband (Brandon), and their two beautiful kiddos (Ellie Rose and Eli). She has a heart for missions – having served in the U.S., Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Guyana, and Africa. She also enjoys traveling, reading, lounging by the pool, and hanging out with friends.
Dr. Stacey Metty, DDS
“I’ve been curious about dentistry since I was young. I love that it gives me the opportunity to care for people, solve problems, and make a real difference in someone’s health and confidence.”
The Beginnings
Originally from the Raleigh area, Dr. Stacey Metty’s interest in dentistry started after an unexpected introduction to the profession. She fell and broke her front tooth as a pre-teen, sparking a curiosity about how dentistry could restore and transform a smile.
By her freshman year of high school, she was already exploring dentistry as a career, spending time shadowing her pediatric dentist and learning what life in the profession looked like.
Dr. Metty attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her undergraduate degree and decided four years as a Tar Heel simply wasn’t enough. She stayed at UNC for dental school, earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the UNC School of Dentistry in 2015.
Back to North Carolina
After dental school, Dr. Metty and her husband spent two years enjoying life in Charleston, South Carolina before returning to North Carolina in 2017.
Now settled in Statesville, she is excited to join Dr. Spears and the Carolina Crossroads Dental Care team and to care for patients in the community she now calls home.
Life at home
Dr. Metty and her husband recently moved to Statesville with their two cats and five chickens. She also has three adopted children who are all grown up and out on their own.
When she’s not caring for patients, you’ll probably find her outside. She and her husband love spending time in the mountains hunting and fishing, and Dr. Metty especially loves working in her garden. She also enjoys painting, puzzles, and reading. And when winter rolls around, there’s a good chance you’ll find her trading the garden for the ski slopes.
